Rio Linda Little League

Snack Bar

The snack bar is one of the most popular and enjoyable ways to fulfill your volunteer hours at Rio Linda Little League. It’s a fun opportunity to meet fellow parents, support the league, and participate in a cherished tradition in our community. Most importantly, the revenue from the snack bar helps fund the league and keep registration fees affordable for all families. We can’t do it without volunteers like you!

When & Where?

We operate two main snack bars—one at Babe Best and one at Elverta Fields. When games are scheduled at Alpha, we would love to staff that snack bar as well! Each shift lasts 2 hours, with both morning and afternoon shifts available. Snack bar shifts begin 30 minutes before the first game of the day and close within 30 minutes after the completion of the last game of the day. To receive full credit, you must be there for the entire shift—late arrivals or early departures will not receive credit.

Who?

Great news—anyone can represent your player for volunteer credit in the snack bar! This includes grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, siblings, or even family friends, as long as they are 16 years or older. This makes it easier for families with busy schedules to meet their volunteer commitment! Be mindful that cell phone use and unaccompanied visitors during shifts can be distracting and may lead to dismissal without credit for the shift. If you’re unable to make your scheduled shift, please arrange for someone else to cover it for you and connect with the Volunteer Coordinator to notify of the change in plans.

To ensure smooth scheduling, we recommend submitting your volunteer application early as processing can take up to 2 weeks. Keep in mind that only two minors (under 18) are allowed to work per shift. If you plan to have a minor volunteer, please let our Volunteer Coordinator know, Amanda Smith @ [email protected].

What?

Volunteering in the snack bar is simple and doesn't require special training. Here are some of the key roles you might take on:

  • Cashier (18+ only): Handle the register, take orders, and manage payments. A friendly smile goes a long way here!

  • Food Prep: Get the snacks ready! Prepare hot dogs, burgers, nachos, and other popular items.

  • Food Runner: Deliver food and drinks to cashier, customers and to/from BBQ operator. Ensure that everyone gets their order in a timely and friendly manner.

  • Restocker: Keep everything stocked and organized to ensure a smooth service throughout the shift.

  • BBQ Operator (18+ only): Grill up hot dogs, burgers, and other BBQ items—perfect for those who enjoy being outside working the grill!

Don’t worry—board members will be there to help with opening and closing the snack bar, so you’ll always have support.

How?

Snack bar shifts will be posted on SignUp Genius as they become available. Be sure to sign up for a shift via SignUp Genius so we know to expect you and sign in/out of the binder at the snack bar to receive credit for your volunteer hours.

We will send email updates to all families when new shifts are posted, so you’ll never miss an opportunity.

Health and Safety Reminder: As a licensed operation with the Sacramento County Environmental Health Department, we are required to comply with certain safety standards. For everyone’s safety, please wear gloves when handling food, tie back any long hair and wear closed-toe shoes while working in the snack bar.

If you have any questions or need more information regarding the snack bar operations, reach out to the Concessions Manager, Alex Risley @ [email protected].

Thank you for helping us make the snack bar a fun and essential part of Rio Linda Little League!
